Dihydroxyacetone, or DHA, is naturally derived from sugar cane, it creates color when it comes in contact with the amino acids found in your skin’s surface cells. The resulting tan typically takes a few hours to fully develop and can last for several days as the dead skin cells naturally slough off.

It's important to note that DHA only affects the surface of your skin and does not penetrate or have any long-term effects on the deeper layers. This makes it a safe and temporary solution for achieving a tan without the need for sun exposure.

The depth of your color intensifies with each application of our hydrating lotion. For optimal results, we suggest applying it daily for 4 - 5 days. Once you've reached your desired shade, maintaining it is easy. We recommend using it every other day.

The Gradual Tan will slowly fade off the skin evenly. If a more immediate removal is required we recommend using our Self Tan Removal and Exfoliating Mitt.

While we love the versatility of Sunkissed as a rich body lotion for intense hydration, it may not be the best choice for your face.

For the best results, we recommend applying our gradual tanning lotion in the morning. This allows ample time for your tan to develop and set throughout the day. To prevent streaking, avoid water or oil exposure during this time. Ideally, wait 8 hours before showering to achieve your desired shade.

Using any self-tanner incorrectly can lead to streaks, but with proper technique, our self-tanner is designed to give you a flawless, even glow. For the best results, be sure to follow the application steps and exfoliate before your first use.

While SUNKISSED won't stain your sheets, towels, or clothes, it's advisable to wait a full 5-10 minutes after application before dressing or getting into bed. This ensures the product has time to dry, promoting even development and preventing any potential transfer.
